Show Notes

We’re discussing the boy band documentary, Dirty Pop, which details the exploitation of teen hearthrobs, and we discuss the reasons why girls have different fandom behaviors than boys. We talk about a 30 for 30 where a football player creates a persona to handle the press and get attention, but the line between identity and brand are blurred to big consequences. We find out what people dream, how much they dream each night, and why men and women dream about different things. We find out how one woman discovered she can smell diseases, why she doesn’t tell people when she smells an illness they might not know they have, and how science can use her gift. Plus, we hear what it’s like caring for someone with dementia, and how a tribe in Colombia helped determine a clue about what can protect us from getting the disease. We discuss what it’s like growing up gay in conservative churches, and how one boy grew up to make movies that tell stories of queerness despite his religious upbringing.
